GVA Fondea: check what is below before you drop anchor
Much of Xàbia's coast — Cala Sardinera, Cap Prim, Portitxol island, Cap Negre, Cap de la Nau and Granadella — has posidonia meadows on the seabed. An anchor tears them up and the chain sweeps them every time the boat swings, and what is destroyed in an afternoon takes decades to grow back. GVA Fondea maps the official seagrass cartography with your position on top, and works without signal if you download the layers before setting off.
It does not replace mooring buoys or maritime signage. Xàbia has authorised moorings in several coves: when one is free, that is still the better option. The app tells you what is under your keel, it does not authorise you to anchor there.
